David Fincher Cinema
Academic Project · June 2021
This project is about the visual identity of a film cycle dedicated to David Fincher, one
of the most distinctive and impactful directors currently working.
This director explores the darker side of human nature - creating movies that leave a
lasting impression and make audiences feel something deeper and, more often than not, disturbing.
"No one is going to save us. You will hurt and you will die, and sometimes your
pretty wife's severed head will end up in a box." - Manohla Dargis, New York Times, 1.1.2021
The idea was to use the plasticity of slime as a perturbing entity that can take over
something, corrupting both body and soul, a common theme in Fincher's work.
With the typographic components designed digitally, these were printed in a small size so
that the slime could be added manually, achieving the desired expression and simulating the real sizes
of all the supports perfectly. The color was digitally added later.
