A Estrada
Academic Project · February 2021
In the novel A Estrada, a father and his son journey through a desolate landscape
that
has been abandoned by the world as we know it.
The end of civilization has come, and only ashes, soot, and wind remain, covering
everything in sight. The story follows a man who fights to ensure his son's survival, with only the
road, the clothes on his back, and the provisions they find along the way, inside of a supermarket
trolley.
The goal of this proposal was to create a pocket book that would graphically represent
the intensity of the disaster and the post-apocalyptic world that the characters face, using the
expression, texture, plasticity, color, and contrast of the chosen line.
The graphic production for the book cover started with successive attempts to get the
right line, using an unsharpened 8B graphite pencil.
In the construction of the book block, it was taken into consideration the necessity of a
comfortable reading experience.
